Independence Day Celebrations at St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru
Mangaluru: The Department of Political Science and the NCC Unit of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, celebrated the 77th Independence Day – Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The Chief Guest, Cdr Claudy Lobo, Commanding Officer, 05 Kar Naval NCC Unit Mangalore, was escorted by the NCC Cadets along with Sr Dr M. Maria Roopa A.C., Joint Secretary, St Agnes Institutions, Sr Dr M. Venissa A.C., the Principal, Sr Carmel Rita A.C., the Administrator, Sr Clera A.C., the Vice Principal, and ANO’s Capt. Gayathri BK and Fg Offr. Dr Hithakshi B. The Chief Guest unfurled the tricolor flag, and in his address, he said that after the unending suffering, we are here today to salute the Martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for our country. Our soldiers are still protecting us from enemies throughout the year in harsh weather. We need to salute and acknowledge their contributions, and that is the real essence of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. He further said that our country has progressed tremendously in the fields of education, medicine, telecommunications, and technology, and we need to continue this and make sure that our country progresses towards a better future that focuses on preserving our ecology as well.
The Chief Guest’s address was followed by the distribution of the National flag. The cultural program began with prayer, followed by a welcome dance, patriotic song, folk song, and contemporary dance. The program concluded with a pledge and the National Anthem.
