The Bishop of Mangalore visits Kudroli Temple during Dussehra Celebrations.
Mangaluru: The Bishop of Mangalore, Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, made a cordial visit to Kudroli temple, Mangalore, on the occasion of the Dasara festival on Monday, October 23, 2023.
The visit was organised as a gesture of religious harmony on an invitation by Padmaraj R., Treasurer, Kudroli Gokarnantheshwara Kshetra.
In his message, the Bishop highlighted the need for harmony in society and appreciated the preachings of Shri Narayana Guru, the founder of Kudroli Temple.
The Kudroli festival, also known as the Mangaluru Dusshera, is now world-famous and is second only to the renowned Mysore Dusshera.
The bishop also acknowledged that Mangaluru Dusshera is now a festival for people of all faiths and religions. True to the teachings of the great sage, who believed in one caste, one religion, and one God, the temple has now become a place of unity and communal harmony.
The Bishop was accompanied by Rev. Rupesh Madtha, Roy Castelino PRO, Diocese of Mangalore, Alwyn Dsouza, President of the Catholic Sabha, Mithun Sequeira, Sunil Kumar Bajal, Stanley D’Cunha Bantwal, and others.
Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha and Shri U T Khader, Speaker, Karnataka Legislative Assembly, were welcomed and greeted by Shri Sairam, President; Shri Madhava Suvarna, Secretary; Shri Hari Krishna, Bantwal; Shri Suryakant Jaya Suvarna and Shri Santosh Poojary, Trustees, Gokaranantheswara Kshetra.
