Holy Redeemer English Medium School Students excel in Karate
Belthangadi: The Second State Level Invitational Karate Championship was organised by the Yamoto Shotokan Karate Association, Mangalore, in collaboration with the Rotary Club, Bantwal, on January 14 at Sparsh Kalamandira, Bantwal.
Students of Holy Redeemer English Medium School participated and won many prizes.
Competitions for Kata (movements) and Kumite (fighting) were held in age- and belt-wise categories.
Manvi (7th) took first place in Kata, Bhuvi (7th) took second place in Kumite, Ann Maria (7th) took third place in Kata, and Shamanth (7th) took first place in Kata and first place in Kumite.
Mohammed Arman (6th) is third in Kata, Sonal D’Souza (6th) is second in Kata and third in Kumite, Anju Maria (6th) is third in Kata and second in Kumite, and Ayan (6th) is first in Kata and second in Kumite.
Manvik (5th) is second in Kata, Prajwal Gowda (5th) is third in Kata, Pragati (5th) is third in Kata, Aaron Fernandes (5th) is third in Kata, and Tanish (5th) is second in Kata. Muhammad Tanzeel (4th) was first in Kumite and second in Kata; Alvin Rodriguez (4th) was third in Kata; Vihan (4th) was first in Kata and second in Kumite; and Bhavish Shetty (4th) was first in Kata and first in Kumite.
Angeline Desa (1st) is second in Kumite, and UKG students Faustina Maria is second in Kata and first in Kumite, and Gail Miranda is first in Kata and third in Kumite.
All the participants secured prizes, and the school won the overall championship.
Karate master Ashok Acharya trained the students. The school headmaster, Rev. Fr. Clifford Pinto, congratulated the students.
Teachers Sandhya, Preetha D’Souza, and Mary Suja guided the students.
