A church priest has been removed from ministry after a’scuffle’ video went viral.

Bantwal, March 2: A Catholic priest of a church here was removed from his parish responsibility after a video of his scuffle with an elderly couple went viral.

The diocese of Mangalore expressed deep sadness for the incidents that occurred on February 29, which harmed those affected as well as the general public.

According to the statement, “As the matter falls under the purview of the law and order of the country, the diocese will fully cooperate with the law-enforcing authorities. Apart from the inquiry initiated by the government departments, the diocese will also initiate canonical inquiries for establishing the truth of the facts in order to take an adequate future course of action in a just and fair manner.

As a prompt response, the concerned priest has been removed from the religious ministry at Christ the King Church in Manela, Periyaltadka, and someone else was assigned to service the people’s spiritual needs.
