World Theatre Day Celebrated at St Philomena College, Puttur
Puttur 04, March 2024: On the occasion of World Theatre Day, Yaksha Kalakendra and the Fine and Performing Arts Association of St Philomena College hosted a lecture and Rangageethe recital at Spandana Seminar Hall. Dr Vijayakumar Moleyar, Vice Principal of the College, graced the occasion as the resource person.
In his enlightening address to the students, Dr Moleyar explored the rich history and evolution of theater arts, highlighting its deep impact on societal norms and individual lifestyles. He emphasized the struggles faced by theater artists in their quest to bring meaningful art to the fore and encouraged students to actively support and engage with the theater community.
The president of the program, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Montero, principal of the college, elaborated on the importance of observing International Theatre Day. He noted that engagement in theater not only enriches the soul but also fosters a disciplined, committed, and dedicated approach to life. In an era dominated by digital gadgets, the call to action for students by Rev. Dr Monteiro was to embrace theater arts as a medium for creative expression and personal growth.
The program commenced with a warm welcome by Mr Prashantha Rai, Convenor of Yaksha Kalakendra. Following the insightful lecture, students of Performing Arts delivered a captivating recital of ‘Ranga Geethe.’ Ms Hrishitha and the group rendered prayer. Mr Punit Raj, convener of ‘Yakshamrutha’, proposed a vote of thanks.
