The Easter Vigil celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Church, Nirmalapadau, with great fervour and gaiety

Udupi, March 30, 2024: Easter celebrations commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ began with Easter Vigil Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Church at 7:30 p.m.

Parishioners in large numbers congregated on Easter Eve to celebrate this joyful feast with lots of fervour and devotion. 

Rev. Fr Gilbert Lobo, CSSR, Alangar, led the ceremony along with the concelebrant Rev. Fr Denis Dsouza, Parish priest, starting with the blessing of the Pascal candle, which signifies the victory of light over darkness. He also blessed the fire and holy water before the Holy Eucharist began. In his homily, Fr Gilbert called on the faithful to learn how to “enter the mystery” of Easter, the commemoration of the Christian belief that Jesus rose from the dead, three days after his crucifixion. 

A melodious choir animated the entire Easter vigil with a melodious voice.

“I wish all my brothers and sisters and parish family members who are working abroad a glorious Easter and the blessings of the Risen Lord in abundance,” stated Fr Denis D’Souza in his thanksgiving message. 

Also, Fr Denis thanked the main celebrant, Fr Gilbert Lobo, for his selfless service for three days in the Holy Week and for his meaningful homilies.

After the mass, refreshments were served to all the parishioners on behalf of Easter vigil eve.
