St Joseph Engineering College celebrates its College Day
Mangaluru: St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, celebrated its College Day on 24 March 2023 in the College campus. Mr Ivan D’souza, Director-HR, Molex India, Bengaluru was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Ms Priyanka Joseph, Senior Product Manager, Ingram Micro, UAE and an alumnus of the college from the Class of 2011 was the Guest of Honour. Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore and President of SJEC presided over the programme.
Dr Rio D’Souza, Principal of SJEC presented the annual report of the college. Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director of SJEC welcomed the gathering to the occasion.
Mr Ivan D’souza spoke about the need to accept and adapt amidst the rapid growth in technology. He inspired and gave few tips to students to take right decisions in life in the drastically changing world. He called upon the students to pursue their passion and be relentless in the pursuit of excellence.
Addressing the gathering, Ms Priyanka Joseph said that the institute has contributed a lot for what she is now. She appreciated the management for the immense growth in infrastructure of the college. She highlighted the importance of being kind which can take individuals to right places in life.
The event also witnessed the felicitations of all student achievers in sports and academics. The Guests, along with the President, distributed various excellence awards. The University level rank holders were felicitated during the event. Faculty achievements were also honoured.
In his presidential address, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, the Bishop of Mangalore congratulated the achievers for their outstanding achievements in academics and extracurricular activities. He advised the students with few human formulae to be successful in life and achieve greater heights.
Dr Shakila B, Convener of the event delivered the vote of thanks. Rev. Fr Alwyn Richard D’Souza, Assistant Director of SJEC, Dr Purushothama Chippar, Vice Principal, Mr Rakesh Lobo, HR Manager of the college and Mr Franco A.J. Menezes, Convener of the programme were also present during the occasion. Mr Joel D’mello and Ms Prathima S compered the formal programme.
A cultural extravaganza followed the formal event with the students displaying their wonderful music and dancing skills. The cultural program was compered by Vinol Arun D’souza, Leslie Kiran Rodrigues and Shwetha Kunte.
