‘MULLERUN’ MARATHON at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Deralakatte.

Mangaluru: On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, ‘MULLERUN’ – Run for a Reason, a Marathon is organized by Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, a unit of Father Muller Charitable Institutions in association with Father Muller Homoeopathic Pharmaceutical Division and NSS UNIT of the College, on Sunday, 13th November 2022. 

The Marathon was inaugurated by Ms Geetha Kulakarni, Asst. Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Mangalore  and Rev. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions presided over the programme.

The Chief Guest in her inaugural address encouraged the participants to follow four tips i.e. walk, eat healthy, think healthy and run for a reason, to be healthy in life. President of the Programme Rev. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho appreciated the team for the initiative taken in organizing this event where Diabetes is the main cause of concern in the present era.  By this,  the Chief Guest  flagged off  the 15km. run at 6.30 a.m.   Rev. Fr Ajith Menezes, Administrator, Father Muller Medical College flagged off to the 5km. run. at 7.15 a.m.

Mr Anil Kumar clocked 43mins 28 seconds to top in the Men’s category of 15 km. and Ms Chaitra Devadiga clocked 58mins 30 seconds in Female Category.   In 5km. Male category Mr Govindraj and in Female category Ms Dhanusha Shetty won the 1st place.   

A special attraction of the Marathon was the participation from Mrs Sulaatha Kamath, aged 71 years and Mr Vittal Shettigar, aged 64 years who participated in the 15km. run and also the youngest First finisher of the Marathon Master Swayam who bagged special prizes. 

There were total of 500 people from Dakshina Kannada, North Karnataka, Udupi and Kasaragod participated in the Marathon.

The winners have been awarded with cash prizes, Health Check up Vouchers and gift hampers worth Rs. 1 Lakh.  All the finishers were acknowledged with a medal and certificate for their participation.
