Mount Carmel Students and Parents lavish love on their Teachers on Teacher’s Day

Mangaluru: The students of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru, celebrated Teachers’ Day on September 5 with great love and enthusiasm. The entire programme was planned and organized by the cabinet leaders.

The creative welcome given at the entrance of the school auditorium in the form of a boarding pass came as a pleasant surprise to all the staff.

The programme commenced with an All-Faith prayer, thanking the almighty for the good teachers and imploring blessings on them. The Joint Secretary, Principal, Vice Principal and two senior teachers paid homage to the noble soul Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan by garlanding his portrait.

A welcome dance by the students followed by a welcome speech delivered by the head boy, Siddharth Shetty made all the staff feel special on this day. The significance of the day was presented by Roncia, Tanishq and Mythili highlighting the birth anniversary of Dr Radhakrishnan and the importance of Teacher’s Day. A musical ode in the form of a song was performed by students dedicated to the tireless efforts of their teachers. The skit by the students of grade XII, highlighting the role of a teacher was truly inspiring. The dance drama showcasing a fusion of 90s songs with Retro theme presented by grade X students was a feast to the eyes. The student alumni also expressed their gratitude towards the teachers through a video presentation.

Then the students of grade XII entertained the staff with some fun-filled games. All the staff enjoyed and appreciated the programme. In her speech, the principal quoted Malala Yousuf Zai: “One child, one teacher, one pen, and one book can change the world”, emphasizing the role of every teacher and the importance of education. She congratulated the students for putting up a meaningful programme and giving joy to their mentors. The Programme was compered by Noah, Ashwini Rao and Ashny. At the end, the head girl Anvila DSouza proposed the vote of thanks.

The second half of the programme was conducted by the PTEC members, which included a prayer song, spot prizes, games and entertainment. The PTA Joint Secretary Ms Suman Mascarenhas welcomed the gathering. The Srilankan dance performed by the energetic PTEC members was truly entertaining. Sr Carissima felicitated the winners of the games. The PTEC members thanked every staff member with a memento.

The principal, on behalf of the teaching and non-teaching fraternities, expressed her gratitude and cheered the parents for lavishing their love on teachers. The vice president of the PTA, Ms Carol Pais rendered the vote of thanks, appreciating the School and the faculty for nurturing their children with love and care. She especially thanked the PTEC members for their unstinting support in putting up a creative programme on this occasion. The programme ended with everyone joining in for a fusion dance, followed by a sumptuous meal.

On the previous day, the school management felicitated the staff for their dedicated service to the institution and the students. The programme began with a short prayer service conducted by vice principal Sr Teena. Principal Sr Melissa accorded a warm welcome and appreciated the staff for their contribution in making Mount Carmel what it is today. On behalf of the management, Sr Carissima gave a heart touching message to the faculty, quoting two examples from the lives of Subhash Chandra Bose and Dr Abdul Kalam, highlighting the positive influence teachers need to have on their students. The management recognized the committed service of the staff and handed over a gift to all. The get-together ended with refreshments, strengthening the bond with each other.
