“Marathon, Cyclathon and Walkathon” organized at St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru
Mangaluru: Women’s Cell of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru organized a Mega event “Marathon, Cyclathon and Walkathon” in honour of Bicentennial birth anniversary of Mother Veronica and International Women’s Day on 5 March 2023 at St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru. The Chief guest Sr Rose Agnes A.C. – Assistant to the Provincial Superior of St Ann’s Convent, Sr Dr Lydia A.C. Superior and Joint Secretary of St Agnes Convent and Institutions, Sr Dr M Venissa A.C. –Principal, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, Ms Blairil Vishma Dcunha, Coordinator of Women’s Cell were present for the inaugural. Sr Dr Lydia A.C. addressed the gathering. She spoke about Venerable Mother Veronica who is the light of the Institution. She was a woman of essence who laid the foundation for the Apostolic Carmel Congregation. Sr Dr Lydia A.C. gave her insights on the significance of the Bicentennial birth anniversary of Mother Veronica.
Later the guests and participants moved towards the Mother Mary Aloysia block for the Flag off ceremony. Chief Guest Sr Rose Agnes A.C. declared the Mega event “Marathon, Cyclathon and Walkathon” open. First Cyclathon event was declared open followed by Marathon and Walkathon. There were around 28 participants for the Cyclathon, 99 participants for Marathon and 300 participants for Walkathon. All in all around 427 people took part in this Mega event. Breakfast was served after the event.
The Valedictory program began at 8:30AM. Prizes were given for the winners and runners upto 5th place in Cyclathon and upto 10th place in Marathon under girls and boys category. Sr Dr M Venissa A.C. –Principal, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Sr Clera A.C. Vice Principal, Sr Dr M. Vinora A.C. PG Coordinator gave away the Prizes to the winners. All the participants enjoyed the event. This was a sportive event that ignited a spark in the participants. All in all it was grand event that resonated positivity among the audience. Ms Blairil Vishma Dcunha, Coordinator-Women’s Cell proposed the Vote of thanks. The valedictory program concluded with the college anthem.
