Mangaluru: ‘Diamond Jubilee-Hostel Day’ celebrated at St Philomena College Men’s Hostel
Puttur: St Philomena College Men’s Hostel celebrated ‘Diamond Jubilee-Hostel Day’ on January 25 in Silver Jubilee Memorial hall of the college.
The Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha inaugurated the celebrations. In his presidential address, he said, ‘Education is the prerequisite for the formation of character, knowledge and skills. It is something which gives necessary directions. Every parent is much concerned in acquiring qualitative education for their children. They even make lot of sacrifices for the sake of children. Everyone must leave the place better than that they found it.’
MLA of Puttur Mr Sanjeeva Mathandoor participated as the chief guest. He said, ‘The educational institutions are aiming at overall development of the students. This hostel has been celebrating its diamond Jubilee. This is a very rare occasion. This hostel has succeeded in producing many great personalities. The present students must get inspiration from the past students.’
Principal of District Institute of Education and Training Mr Walter D’Mello participated as the chief guest. He said, ‘Every student must have vision. Everyone must try to become something in the society. It is the duty of every student to fulfill the dreams of their parents.’
Principal of St Philomena PU College Rev. Fr Vijay Lobo participated as the guest of honour. He said, ‘Discipline, honesty, Justice and hard work always helps in attaining better position in the society.’
Campus Director Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro participated as the guest of honour. He said, ‘Everybody must try to become good citizens of this nation.’

Vice President of Mai de dues Parish Pastoral Council Mr Maurice Mascarenhas and Secretary Mr Fabian Goveas graced the occasion. The President of hostel Mr Shashanka was present on this occasion.
On this occasion, achievers and prize winners in various competitions are felicitated.
