Davanagere, Harihara, September 6, 2023: The eighth day’s Novena at Our Lady of Health, Minor Basilica, Harihara, Davanagere District, Diocese of Shimoga, began at 5:30 p.m. with Rosary, Procession and floral homages to Harihara Matha. Then the Basilica Rector & Parish Priest Rev. Fr George K. A., led the Novena.
At 6:30 p.m., Rev. Fr Duming Dias, Director of the Diocesan Pastoral Renewal Center ‘Sannidhi’, Shivamogga offered the Holy Eucharist. He preached his homily on the theme: “Mother Mary is an inspiration to take care of the sick in the family”.
In his homily, he explained how families have shattered due to sickness. Places like Harihara Basilica give hope to the people who come over here with sickness. In the Bible, we learn how Jesus heals the sick and suffering. The Blessed Mother intercedes for all those who seek her help, and God hears her prayers. Taking care of the sick and suffering needs a lot of patience in one’s life. We have to learn from the Blessed Mother’s life of serenity, service, humility, and generosity.
Rev. Fr Venil D’Silva, Rev. Fr Richard SJ, Rev. Fr Franklin D’Souza, Rev. Fr Rayappa, Rev. Fr Ronald Furtado OCD, Fr Ronald D’Cunha, Rev. Fr Shanthraj SJ, Rev. Fr Prashanth OFM CAP, Rev. Fr William OFM CAP, and Rev. Fr Alvin Stanislaus concelebrated the Holy Eucharist.
