March 13, 2023

Mangaluru: Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh®, in collaboration with 12 Deaneries, celebrated Women’s Day on March 12th at Bejai Church Hall. The Spiritual Director, Rev.Fr.Dr. J.B. Saldanha, inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp along with guests and the Sthree Hitha Sanchalakis from the Deaneries.

In his speech, he discussed gender equality and how society only values men’s hard work while ignoring women’s.Though 60% of members of the Catholic Sabha are women, so far only Mrs. Flavia Dsouza has become president. He requested more women come forward and take up more responsible positions in the Catholic Sabha. He also advised the women to prioritize their health over their families. He requested that the women or the parents treat their child, boy or girl, equally.

Speaker among the Felicitators—Ms. Mishel Queeni Dcosta, IRS (who was honored by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman)—mentioned in her speech her inspirational background and encouraged mothers and youth to motivate in various subjects of their interest.

The Chief Guest, Mrs. Hilda Dsilva, retired vice principal, Milagres College, Kallianpur, gave a very interesting talk about women and how women are more superior than they think. And we can do much more if we want. Women are the center of attraction. A lady can do everything a man can do. Whatever you give a woman, she gives it back in multiples. We have to take a look at our families. And deal with our children with lots and lots of love. If a woman cannot be a role model for her children, then we cannot have better families. She wished every woman not power over men but power over themselves.

In her speech, the chief guest, Sister Cicilia Mendonca, Bethany Provincialate Provincial Superior, stated that every woman must be respected. A woman is a sign of service and sacrifice. We as parents have to teach our children values. Asked every woman to take leadership and responsibility and to do good both at home and in society.

Guest of Honor, Roy Castelino, P.R.O. Mangalore Diocese, in his speech, appreciated and greeted all the honorees for their achievements. In response to the chief speaker’s speech, he acknowledged that he would change one thing in his daily life. Asked the ladies to get into politics. Also congratulated the Catholic Sabha for their good work.

Stany Lobo, President, Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh®, in his Presidential Speech, congratulated all the women on Women’s Day, thanked the women for their contribution to the catholic sabha, and requested more women to be more active, face any difficulties, and serve the community.
