Mangaluru: The feast of St Antony’s relic (holy tongue) was celebrated with solemn high mass at St Anne’s friary chapel on the 13th of February at 6 p.m. by Rev. Dr Rocky D’Cunha, the superior of the house. It was concelebrated by all the fathers of the friary. Hundreds of devotees were gathered to thank St Antony for the favours received. A candlelight procession was held from the grotto of St Antony, followed by Mass. During the homily, Fr Rocky highlighted the importance of using our god-given tongue for proclaiming the word of God and defending our faith against the heretics. St Antony’s tongue was kept free from corruption for preaching the word of God. This was the great reward God gave to St Antony, said the preacher, quoting the words of St Bonaventure, the then general of the Order.

Mr Joe and group (Padre Pio Choir) conducted the melodious choir and led the people to pray. All with the lit candles prayed for peace among 40 war-stricken countries.

Fr Richard thanked all those who worked for the success of the feast. At the end of the mass, all were given St Antony’s bread and a home-made soft drink.
