Rap is a flow of emotions: RJ Ajay at Rapitox in Aloysius

February 22, 2024

Mangaluru: A unique event titled “RAPITOX” – Open Inter State Rap and Beatbox Competition, was organized on Tuesday, February 20, at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) campus.

Dr Charles V. Furtado, Director, Administrative Block, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) presided over and inaugurated the event.

Addressing the gathering, the special invitee of the programme, Mirchi RJ Ajay, Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM, said, “It feels like back home, and Aloysians are my family.”

“Rap is not as easy as it looks. It starts with music, and that is something that connects you with different eras or worlds altogether. It carries emotions. While rapping, emotions flow out irrespective of any song or a story that you  share,” he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Alwyn D’Sa, Registrar & COE, recalled an incident in which his headmistress had knuckled him for attempting to rap.

“RJ Ajay has a positive vibe, and it feels good to be around him. He was in the banking sector and found out that he was missing out on something. He realised his passion and chased the dream, for which he landed back in Udupi. Rap doesn’t believe in anything and tells you to be yourself and let the emotions flow out,”  he added.

Meanwhile, a theme song was released in relation to Rapitox.

Yashaswini led the gathering into prayer. Ankita, assistant coordinator of Rapitox, welcomed the gathering. Sneha proposed the vote of thanks. Staff coordinators Akshith Kumar and Dr. Sandhya U Sirsikar, student coordinators Kush Acharya and Sanvitha Anchan, and others were present.
