NRI entrepreneurs James Mendonca and Lawrence Mendonca felicitated
Mangaluru: The Ursuline Franciscan Education Society felicitated its alumni, Mr James Mendonca, a well-known entrepreneur and philanthropist, the proprietor of M/s Reliable Fabricators LLC, Dubai, UAE, and his elder brother, Mr Lawrence Mendonca, a renowned entrepreneur and proprietor of Standard Fabrication and Engineering Works, Dubai, UAE, on November 16, 2023, at Holy Rosary Senior Citizens’ Home, Jeppu.
At this short Felicitation Programme, the vehicle—Bolero Neo—a gift to the Holy Rosary Senior Citizens’ Home was handed over by these benevolent brothers in gratitude to the Ursuline Franciscan Sisters, under whom they had done their primary education at St Joachim Hr Primary School, Kelarai. Rev. Sr Milly Fernandes, the Superior General, commended them for their great contribution to society as NRI entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and promoters of Mangalore Konkans, which has brought them several awards and laurels.
Both the brothers are recipients of the Rachana NRI Entrepreneur Awards. She thanked them for acknowledging the services of the Ursuline Franciscan Sisters to society, especially in the education field in the remote villages.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr James Mendonca appreciated the touch of compassion, love, and goodness that he experienced as a young boy in the school, which has had a lasting effect on his life. ‘The basic education I received and the values I learned in my early school life have made me what I am today‘, said Mr James as both brothers felicitated Sr Barbara Franko, their headmistress and teacher of yesteryear.
Sr Barbara, a nonagenarian, honoured her former students, Mr James and Mr Lawrence and thanked them for being generous in donating a vehicle for the needs of the Senior Citizens.
Several alumni of St Joachim Hr Primary School and Amrithlalji High School, Kelarai, were present at this event and witnessed the munificence of the two brothers. Earlier, Fr Anil Alfred D’Souza, the Director of St Zuze Vas Home for Senior Priests, blessed the new vehicle, and Mr James and Lawrence Mendonca handed over the keys of the vehicle to Sr Alice Serrao, the Superior of the Holy Rosary Senior Citizens’ Home.
