LCS Math Week was celebrated at Lourdes Central School
Mangaluru: Mathematics is the most beautiful and powerful creation of the human spirit. Mathematics is a way of thinking and gives us insight into the power of the human mind.
LCS Math Week was celebrated at Lourdes Central School from January 8–13, 2024. The main objective of Math Week was to create a fantastic opportunity for learners to celebrate the importance of Math in everyday life. The Math Week was inaugurated by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Robert D’Souza, on January 8, 2024.
A week-long, nonstop Math buzz continued in each and every class. Students prepared beautiful charts and decorated their classes and lobby boards. To develop the critical thinking and reasoning skills of children, various activities and competitions were conducted.
Taking the celebration as an opportunity, budding mathematicians from the school showcased their knowledge of mathematical concepts, analytical ability, and application skills by presenting the school assemblies. The topics for the Math Week assemblies were as follows:.
On January 8, 2024, Mathematics for Everyone by Class 9
On January 9, 2024, Indian Mathematicians in class 3
On January 10, 2024, Geometry, the branch of mathematics in class 7,
On January 12, 2024, Fractions in Real Life by Class 5.
A varied range of tricks and riddles were showcased by the students. Students prepared the different models; the best models were selected and received certificates from the school. Math finale assembly was conducted on January 12. A meaningful skit was presented by the students of class 9, highlighting the notion that Math cannot be simply memorized but must be used in our daily lives. The finale of Math Week was concluded by the assembly. Vice Principal Ma’am Belita Mascarenhas delivered the message. She insisted and encouraged all students to learn Math with enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
