Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College hosts the RGUHS Mysore Zone Basketball (M) Tournament 2023-24

Mangaluru: The RGUHS Mysore Zone Basketball (M) Tournament 2023–24 was hosted by Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Deralakatte, on August 30th & 31st, 2023. Dr Gerald Santhosh D’souza, Director, Department of Physical Education, Mangalore University, inaugurated the tournament on August 30, 2023, at the basketball court of the college. Rev. Fr Richard A. Coelho, Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, presided over the programme.

Rev. Fr Roshan Crasta, Administrator, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, welcomed the gathering and the chief guest. He said it was an honour to host such events at our campus and wished all the players.

Chief Guest Dr Gerald Santhosh D’souza, in his inaugural address, explained the importance of physical fitness and sports science. It should be understood and promoted by professionals, especially doctors. Sports develop a feeling of brotherhood and team spirit. He encouraged all the players to play well and take advantage of their experience as they went back home.

Rev. Fr Richard A. Coelho, in his presidential address, encouraged the players and wished them all success.

Mr Alen Jinson, Sports Secretary, thanked everyone on behalf of the institution.

The formal inaugural function was concluded with the institution’s anthem. The programme kicked off with the chief guest shooting a ball into the basket to inaugurate the event.

Rev. Fr Ashwin L Crasta, Assistant Administrator, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital,  Dr Vilma Meera D’Souza, Principal Incharge, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Dr Suresh S. M., Sports Coordinator, Mysore Zone, Mr Chennakeshava M.G., Physical Education Instructor, FMHMC, Physical Education Directors of other colleges, Faculty members, Students’ Council members; and students were present for the inaugural programme.

A total of 18 teams from various colleges in the Mysore zone affiliated with RGUHS are participating in the tournament.
