Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital holds 34th Graduation Ceremony

Mangaluru: The 34th Graduation Ceremony of FMHMC was held on April 20, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Father Muller Convention Centre in Kankanady, Mangaluru.

The programme was initiated with the grandiose procession of graduates accompanied by the band and salutation with the guard of honour at the entrance of the Father Muller Convention Centre, Kankanady. The President of the programme Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese and President of FMCI, The Chief Guest, Prof (Dr) M S Moodithaya, Vice Chancellor, Nitte Deemed To Be University, Deralakatte, Rev. Fr Richard A. Coelho, Director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions, Rev. Fr Roshan Crasta, Administrator Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Rev. Fr Ashwin Crasta, Asst. Administrator Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Dr E.S.J. Prabhu Kiran, Principal Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Vice Principal Dr Vilma Meera D’Souza, Medical Superintendent of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College Hospital Dr Girish Navada U.K., Convenor of Graduation Ceremony 2024 Dr Reshel Noronha, were offered a solemn welcome with traditional Poornakumbha.

The formal programme commenced by invoking the blessings of the almighty through a prayer song by the students of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College. 

In his welcome speech, Director Rev. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho rekindled the memorable journey of the inception of Father Muller Charitable Institutions and also recalled how patient-centric care takes into consideration the holistic approach in the treatment of many ailments. Fr Richard also stated how innovativeness and traditional medicinal approaches are practiced hand in hand in our institutions.

Dr ESJ Prabhu Kiran, Principal, FMHMC, then presented a descriptive annual report of the activities of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital for the academic year 2023-2024.

Graduands were honoured and certificates were conferred by the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) M. S. Moodithaya, which was followed by the administration of the oath led by the Principal, Dr ESJ Prabhu Kiran.

Chief Guest Prof. (Dr) M. S. Moodithaya, Vice Chancellor, Nitte Deemed To Be University, Deralakatte, in his message, first of all congratulated the stars of today, the graduates, and added how lucky they are to be part of the most prosperous country in the world. He reminded us of the 3 Cs of success: the condition in which you are, the capacity you have, and your credibility. Sir also reminded the graduates to always remember the struggles of their parents and teachers in shaping their future and wished them all the best wishes for their bright future.

On behalf of the graduates, Dr Anagha K. G. expressed her gratitude to the institutions.

The postgraduates were honoured with their MD (Hom.) degree by Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese and President of FMCI.

A total of 85 BHMS students graduated on this occasion, and 25 postgraduates were awarded their MD (Hom) degree.

The Bishop of Mangalore Diocese and the President of FMCI honoured seven UG rankholders declared by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, for the overall BHMS examinations conducted from September 2018 to October 2022.

‘Dr Sumod Jacob Solomon Award’ sponsored by the 6th batch of Mullerians for the Best Outgoing Postgraduate Student of the 2020–21 batch was awarded to Dr Meban Rani.

Father Muller Charitable Institutions President’s Gold Medal for the Best Outgoing Undergraduate Student B.H.M.S.—2018–19 Batch was awarded to Dr Deeksha Parvathi.

The Award of Excellence for Undergraduates was bagged by Dr Shelcy Maria Sebastian, and the Award for Postgraduates was bagged by Dr Rushali Sudhir Gugaratti.

On this occasion, Dr Madona Joseph was honoured with a memento for her relentless services of 32 years at FMCI at various posts and, at the end, superannuating as Head of Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at FMHMC.

Prof. (Dr) M. S. Moodithaya, Vice Chancellor, Nitte Deemed To Be University, Deralakatte, was honored as the Chief Guest of the program by the President of FMCI, Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha.

Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese and President of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, shared in his presidential address the sense of rejoicing felt by all today on the occasion of Graduation. It was also reminded of the service of mankind into which today’s grandchildren are entering, which makes them akin to the Supreme Power with the motto of Healing and Comfort.

Rev. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director, FMCI, then honoured the President of the programme, Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese and President of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, with a token of gratitude.

Rev. Fr Roshan Crasta, Administrator, FMHMC &H, proposed the vote of thanks. The graduation ceremony concluded with the institution anthem and the recession of the graduates and dignitaries. Dr Jolly D’Mello and Dr Manish Kumar compeered the graduation ceremony.

A Thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration was offered by Rev. Fr Richard A. Coelho, Director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions, at Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel, Deralakatte, at 6.30 a.m. on the same day, which was attended by Graduates, their parents, and staff.
