Beach Clean-up Drive at Ullal Beach on International Coastal Clean-up Day
Mangaluru: St. Agnes PU College envisions the development of young people with genuine social consciousness who find meaning in their lives by serving others. The Beach Clean-up Drive at Ullal Beach on International Coastal Clean-up Day-22 on September 17th was organised by ship in coordination with MOES and other stake holders of the District administration. The clean-up drive was aimed to foster awareness amongst school children and the public about keeping the ocean plastic free. The Chief Guest of the event was Sh. Abhishek V, KAS, Project Director, District Urban Development Cell, Dakshina Kannada. He briefed students about the importance of waste segregation and recycling. He believes that such initiatives make students more socially responsible and proactive in addressing environmental issues. Glass, plastic, rubber and synthetic materials were segregated and disposed during the drive.
The student volunteers of the Agno Angel club and the NCC cadets of St. Agnes PU College actively participated in clearing the plastic and other non-biodegradable waste, which was later handed over to Mangaluru City Corporation. The drive aided in raising student awareness of the importance of cleanliness in public places. The active and enthusiastic participation of students and faculty made the beach clean-up drive a rousing success.
