‘Aati Dhonji Dhina: A Cultural program organized at St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru 

Mangaluru: The NSS unit of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, organized an enrichment program on Tulunadu culture, ‘Aati Dhonji Dhina’ on August 5, 2023, to mark the monsoon month of Aati in the Tulu Calendar. Dr Asha Jyothi Rai Maladi, an ayurvedic practitioner, was the Resource Person. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rai opined that Tuluvas from times in memorial led a sustainable life in accordance with the forces of nature, observing rituals and practices associated with each season. She appraised the relevance of observances and their scientific efficacy during Aati season.

Presiding over the programme was the Principal of the College, Sr Dr M.Venissa A.C., who acknowledged the initiative of the NSS unit in organizing a programme emphasizing the regional culture. NSS Programme Officer  Dr Meera delivered an introductory note and welcomed the gathering. Dr Udaya Kumar, NSS Programme Officer, and Assistant Officer Mrs Preetha were present on the occasion.

NSS volunteers presented a cultural programme exhibiting the Tuluva culture and served homemade delicacies of the Aati season. Mr Vashista Rai compered the program, and Mrs Chethana proposed the vote of thanks.
