A Glorious Thanksgiving Day for the Sisters of Charity at Infant Mary Convent, Jeppu, Mangalore

Mangaluru: A splendid building constructed mainly by the generous donors Mr. Rajesh and Richard Mascarenhas from Bangalore and Ireland, respectively, was inaugurated by Sr. Irene Menezes, the Provincial Superior of Mangalore Province, and blessed by the most Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha, the Bishop of Mangalore, on December 5, 2023.

                      

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Most Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha, along with other priests. In his homily, the Bishop appreciated the service of the sisters to the poor and downtrodden. He also wished that we continued with the same enthusiasm to meet the needs of the poor of today.

                        

 Felicitation programme was well organized  to honor the dignitaries like the Bishop, Fr. Melwin Pinto, the Rector of St. Aloysius College,  Mangalore the  representative of the Jesuits who invited us to Mangalore,  Fr. Richard Coelho, the Director of Fr. Muller Charitable Institutions, Mangalore, Sr. Rosy Cutinha, the Provincial Superior of the Province of  Dharwad, Fr. Daniel  Veigas OP, Episcopal Vicar for Religious, Mangalore Diocese, Sr.Philo Joseph, the newly appointed Provincial Superior of the Province of Calicut, the donors Dr.Richard Mascarenhas, Mrs. Laureen Mascarenhas the  representative of the donor Mr. Rajesh Mascarenhas, the superiors who rendered their service in the recent past at Infant Mary, Jeppu and  Provincial Superior the President of the function and few others too.

A calendar for the year 2024 containing photographs of all the works of mercy rendered by the Sisters of Charity was released, and the same was distributed with a memento to the dignitaries and other guests. A documentary depicting glimpses of the Infant Mary Convent Jeppu and of the apostolic services of the Sisters of Charity (SCCG) was screened.

To crown it all, a sumptuous dinner was served to all the participants, hosted by Mr. Ronald Colaco, Chairman, IFKCA. The day ended with great joyful gratitude for the satisfaction of all. Praise the Lord.
