‘World Environment Day’ observed at St Agnes PU College 

Mangaluru: Abhaya, the Women’s Forum of St Agnes PU College, celebrated World Environment Day on June 6, 2024.

Mr Praveen, Senior Assistant Director, Department of Horticulture, Mangalore Taluk, was invited as the resource person. Mr Praveen highlighted the importance of organic farming and gave pointers on how to improve the fertility of the soil. Modernization, a burgeoning population, and the rampant use of plastics have led to a decline in the quality of the soil. Vermicompost contains nutrients and microorganisms that enrich the soil and is excellent for organic farming.

The principal, Sr Norine Dsouza, faculty, and the convenor of Abhaya, Dr Tressie Menezes, were present for the programme.

Ms Fathima Rawha compered, welcomed, and rendered the vote of thanks smoothly.
