Workshop on Shape the Future with Generative AI held at St. Agnes College (Autonomous)
Mangaluru: St. Agnes College (Autonomous), Centre for Postgraduate Studies and Research, organized an insightful workshop titled “Shape the Future with Generative AI” on January 16, 2025, at the Seminar Hall, Centenary Block, St. Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangalore. The session was tailored for final-year MBA and MCA students, aiming to enhance their understanding of prompt engineering and the broader capabilities of generative AI technologies.
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Abhishek K N, CEO of A and M Edu Solutions, who served as the resource speaker. The session began with a prayer song led by Ms. Raksha and her team, invoking a positive and focused atmosphere. Ms. Bindiya, a second-year MCA student, seamlessly handled the role of Master of Ceremony ensuring the smooth progression of the program. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Mallika Shetty and Ms Vaishanvi, staff in charge who played a key role in organizing the event.
The formal welcome address was delivered by Mr. Gibson, a second-year MBA student, who also introduced the resource speaker to the gathering. The event was graced by the presence of dignitaries, including Mrs. Sheryl Preethika, HOD of the MBA Department; Mrs. Panchajanyeswari, HOD of the MCA Department; and the faculty members from both departments.
The one-and-a-half-hour session provided students with a comprehensive understanding of generative AI and its applications. The key topics discussed included:

The speaker introduced ChatGPT, explaining what it is and how it works, emphasizing the role of prompts in shaping unique and meaningful responses. He elaborated on the meaning of a prompt, its significance, and techniques for crafting them accurately. The session included a detailed introduction to DALL-E, a tool in ChatGPT used for generating images, and demonstrated how prompts could be applied to create visuals in innovative ways. Examples of prompts were provided to help students generate images and understand the process deeply.
The anatomy of a prompt was discussed with its differences. The speaker highlighted the capabilities of ChatGPT, showcasing its ability to engage in conversations, retain memory, adjust tone and style, provide corrections and feedback, generate images, and integrate plugins like Explore GPTs. It also covered tools like logo creator, which was demonstrated live. For example, a logo was generated using a Swiggy-related theme, helping students grasp the depth and accuracy of AI applications.
A live demonstration illustrated these capabilities, making the session interactive and engaging. One example included an engaging quiz activity where students participated in solving prompts designed to generate new questions and award points for correct answers. This activity fostered collaboration and understanding while making the learning experience enjoyable.
The resource speaker emphasized the growing demand for AI proficiency in the corporate world, urging students to stay updated with advancements in the field. He demonstrated how mastering AI tools could provide students with a competitive edge in interviews, internships, projects, and future job roles. Moreover, Mr. Abhishek shared practical tips on incorporating AI into everyday academic and professional tasks, such as drafting cover letters, creating presentations, and so on.
The speaker also stressed that learning to interact effectively with AI tools like ChatGPT could enhance problem-solving skills, boost creativity, and improve efficiency in various professional settings. He showcased real-world applications of ChatGPT, including customer service chatbots, virtual writing assistants, language translation, and creative content generation. A key takeaway shared during the session was that in prompt engineering and learning, small things make a big difference.
The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer segment, where students asked questions and gained practical tips for using AI in daily life. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Nicole Anna Joy, a second-year MBA student who expressed gratitude to the resource speaker, dignitaries, faculty, and participants. The workshop received overwhelmingly positive feedback from students who found it enriching, inspiring, and practical. The session equipped participants with a deeper understanding of ChatGPT, AI tools, and the potential of generative AI, leaving them motivated to explore further.
