Welcoming the Future: Orientation Programme Inaugurated at Ladyhill Victoria PU College

“New campus, new faces, new notebooks – same heart full of dreams.”

Mangaluru: The student orientation programme plays a vital role in a student’s transition and growth. Effective communication between students and teachers is always beneficial. In pursuit of this, Ladyhill Victoria PU College, Urwa, Mangaluru, organized an Orientation Programme for all students on 2 June 2025 in the PUC Conference Hall at 11:00 AM. The programme was presided over by our Principal Sr. Sharmila A.C. and Ms. Vaishnavi S., an ex-student and a member of the Alumnae Association.

The orientation programme commenced by invoking the blessings of the Almighty, led by the students of II PUC, followed by the lamp-lighting ceremony initiated by our Principal, Sr. Sharmila A.C. The oath-taking ceremony was one of the most dignified and memorable moments of the event, symbolizing a deep sense of responsibility and commitment. It was administered by Mrs. Vanitha S., lecturer in Mathematics.

Ms. Vaishnavi addressed the students, sharing her own experiences and emphasizing the importance of leadership, respect for all, and working in unity. Mrs. Rithin Joyline D’Almeida, lecturer in English, announced the names of the newly appointed Student Council members for the academic year 2025–2026 and highlighted the duties and rules to be followed by every student on campus.

All the lecturers came forward and introduced themselves formally. They also introduced the various student forums newly established this year. The students were given an overview of the hands-on activities that not only allow them to fully utilize their creative talents and energies but also contribute to their all-round development.

Mrs. Reema Marina Ornello, lecturer in Chemistry, and Mrs. Seema Sheikh, lecturer in Biology, presented a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the various opportunities available in curricular and extracurricular domains. Principal Sr. Sharmila A.C. welcomed the students and introduced them to the academic disciplines.

As the motto goes, “Through Effort to Glory,” the orientation programme was a highly successful one. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Latha, lecturer in Physics. The programme was compered by Mrs. Preethika D’Souza, lecturer in Economics. The event concluded with the singing of the College Anthem at 12:30 PM.
