WASH in Schools (WinS) Project at St. John’s High School by Rotary Shankerpura

Mangaluru: The Rotary Club of Shankerpura inaugurated Rotary Shikshana vaahini 2019-2020 District Project, WinS-Hand Wash Station installed at St. John’s High School premises, Shankerpura, on Friday, 18th September. The project was under WASH in Schools programme to provide clean water, better sanitation and hygiene to improve the health of school children, was inaugurated by District Chairman,Shikshana vaahini 2019-2020 Rtn. Mohandas Pai and Past R.I District 3182, Zone 5 Assistant Governor Rtn. Ganesh Acharya by cutting the ribbon at the Wash Basin Station.

A brief stage function began with the prayer recited by group of Teachers. Ashwin Rodrigues, Head Master, St. John’s High School, accorded warm welcome to all dignitaries and delivered his introductory message. Rtn. Ganesh Acharya delivered his inaugural speech. Rtn. Mohandas Pai, District Chairman, Shilshanavaahini 2019-2020, expressed his good opinion about the project.Speaking on the occasion Rtn. Naveen Amin Assistant Governor 2020-2021while expressing his impression, mentioned that, this project from the donation from Rotary’s District Grants for the benefit of school students.

The Chief Guest Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Correspondent, St. John’s Educational Institutions, Shankerpura in his address lauded the community service being carried out  by  Rotary Shankerpura and thanked Rtn. Sandeep Bangera, Rotary President 2019-2020 for identifying the need of a Wash Basin Station at St. John’s High School Premises.

Also present on the dais, President of Rotary Shankerpura Rtn. Victor Martis, Club Secretary Rtn. Jerome Rodrigues, Wash in School Chairman Rtn. John Martis, St. Johns Parish Council Vice-President Rtn. John Rodrigues, Secretary Anitha R D’Souza, Rotarians and teaching faculty members. Sunitha Leena D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
