Tribute Event Held for Late Kashmir Menezes, Former President of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (R)
Mangaluru: A heartfelt tribute event was organized to honor the late Kashmir Menezes, former president of the Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (R). In recognition of his contributions to society, he was posthumously conferred with the title “Dheer Thandeli.” The event took place on March 17, 2025, at the Bejai Church Hall in Mangalore.
The ceremony commenced with a solemn Holy Mass, officiated by the Most Reverend Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha, the Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, alongside Dr. J.B. Saldanha, the Spiritual Director of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (R), and Rev. Fr. John Vas, the Spiritual Director of the Episcopal City Deanery. Prayers were offered for the eternal rest of the departed soul.
Following the Mass, dignitaries and attendees gathered at the Bejai Church Hall to pay floral tributes to the portrait of the late Kashmir Menezes. Former presidents, current office-bearers of the Catholic Sabha from both Mangalore and Udupi regions, as well as members from various churches, were present.















































During the event, Dr. J.B. Saldanha and other speakers reflected on the impactful contributions made by the late Kashmir Menezes to society. He was lauded for his efforts in fostering harmony across religious communities. Notably, he was affectionately referred to as “Kashmir Anna” by people from all walks of life, a testament to his beloved presence.
The program was presided over by Mr. Alwyn D’Souza Paneer, the President of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (R). The event was efficiently anchored by Mr. Paul Rolfie D’Costa. A warm welcome was extended by Mr. Steven Rodrigues, the Vice President, while Mr. Alwyn Prashanth Montero, the General Secretary, delivered the vote of thanks.
Furthermore, Mr. Wilfred Alvares, the Joint Treasurer, skillfully compered the program. The citation honoring the late Kashmir Menezes with the title “Dheer Thandeli” was read out by Ms. Melrida Rodrigues, the Treasurer of the Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (R).
The ceremony concluded with a lunch, bringing together attendees in remembrance of the remarkable life and contributions of Kashmir Menezes.
