TRENDS 2K25: Symposium on Human Resource Management of Tomorrow Ignites Future-Ready Insights, Organized at FMCOAHS
Mangaluru, April 12, 2025 — The Department of Hospital Administration at Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences (FMCOAHS) hosted a one-day national symposium titled TRENDS 2K25 – Human Resource Management of Tomorrow, bringing together students, academicians, and HR professionals for an immersive exchange of ideas on the future of Human Resource Management.
The symposium was inaugurated by Mr. Steevan Pinto, Chairman of the National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM), who also served as the chief guest and a distinguished resource person for the day. In his thought-provoking inaugural address, Mr. Pinto compared HR management to a “motherly figure,” emphasizing that the well-being of personnel must always remain a central priority. He also shared how his leadership at NIPM recently enabled the hosting of a global conclave on HR management in Mangaluru, with a futuristic focus on “Personnel Management of Workforce in 2047.”
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Rev. Fr. Ajith B. Menezes, Director of FMCOAHS, who warmly welcomed students from various hospital administration institutions and practicing HR professionals. Drawing from his book Soul Stories, he narrated the inspiring tale of Ismail Siddique, a man who succeeded in a job interview on his third attempt—an anecdote highlighting the value of feedback, resilience, and persistence. “Empathy, courage, and knowledge,” Fr. Menezes emphasized, “are essential tools for navigating the complexities of today’s online, knowledge-based workforce.”


















Other dignitaries present at the inauguration included Fr. George Jeevan Sequeira, Administrator of Father Muller Medical College Hospital (FMMCH); Ms. Jyothi Pinto, HR Manager of Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI); Prof. Dr. Hilda D’Souza, Principal of FMCOAHS; and Ms. Nirmala Kumari, Head of the Department of Hospital Administration.
The day featured a range of engaging and thought-provoking sessions:
- Mr. Sandeep D’Silva, Senior Principal – Employee Experience at Infosys Ltd., delivered an insightful session on employee relations and managing the new-age workforce, highlighting generational shifts and effective engagement strategies.
- Ms. Ivy Saldanha, Managing Director of Noble Manhattan Coaching Ltd., explored employee retention strategies, placing emphasis on coaching and personalized development plans.
- Ms. Jyothi Pinto conducted a practical session on employee attrition and retention, sharing valuable real-time insights from her experiences at FMCI.
In addition to these enriching presentations, the symposium also hosted a Stress Interview Competition and a Media Reporting segment, offering students a platform to demonstrate their HR acumen and communication skills in high-pressure environments.
Collectively, the sessions explored the evolving role of HR in today’s dynamic landscape, underscoring the importance of adaptability, emotional intelligence, and a commitment to lifelong learning among emerging HR leaders.
