June 1, 2025

Mangaluru, May 31: The spiritual atmosphere in Mangalore was filled with devotion and anticipation as the Tredicina—a 13-day novena in preparation for the annual feast of St Anthony of Padua—commenced on May 31, 2025, at St Anthony Ashram, Jeppu, and Milagres Church, Mangaluru.

The inaugural ceremony at the Ashram was marked by the hoisting of St Anthony’s flag by Rev. Dr Ronald Serrao, Rector of St Joseph Seminary, Jeppu, who also presided over the first novena Mass. He was joined by Rev. Fr J B Crasta, Director of St Anthony’s Charitable Institutions; Rev. Fr Vivian Nishanth Rodrigues, Assistant Director; and Fr Praveen Martis, Administrator of the Ashram.

Earlier in the morning, Fr Vivian Rodrigues celebrated the 6:00 AM Mass for the Ashram residents at the chapel.

In the evening, Rev. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, Designate Director of FMCI, Kankanady, celebrated the novena Mass at the St Anthony Shrine, Milagres Church. In his homily, he reflected on the theme, “Share your bread with the hungry,” which echoed the overarching novena theme: “Accompany the poor alongside St Anthony of Padua and march as pilgrims of hope.” His message inspired the faithful to embody compassion and solidarity with the marginalized.
