Three-day intl. conference on sustainable development comes to a close at Aloysius
Mangaluru Jan 17: The curtains came down on the ICSSR-sponsored international conference titled “Sustainable Development Goals: Confluence of Local, National, and Global Actions,” organized by the School of Arts and Humanities, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), on Friday, January 17.
The valedictory event began with an interactive session with Dr.Jeremy from Sophia University, Japan, who has traveled to 118 countries including India. His main motive is to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
The conference was supported by numerous national and international well-wishers, including the brains behind the online illustrated e-magazine “VEEZ Weekly,” Lion Dr. Austin D’Souza Prabhu of Chicago, USA. The conference also got major support from entrepreneur Mr. Michael D’Souza.












Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Dr Jeremy Jimenez said that humans and humans’ relationships are damaging the mother earth. He explained about his experience on the Aloysius campus and appreciated the companionship of staff. He compared India with the USA in terms of technology and said that the USA has become isolated due to heavy use of technology.
The international guests and participants who had attended the conference shared a few words on the conference theme—sustainable development. They also shared their experiences of three days. They lauded the efforts of the organizers for conducting the event in a smooth manner and shared their experience in India.
Fr. Dr Melwin D’Cunha SJ, Pro Chancellor, delivered the presidential address. He highlighted the international candidates’ experience and their “sustainable development goals” research and concluded by thanking the international sponsors and organizers.
Austin Rodrigues, student convenor, gave his concluding remarks.
Dr Sajimon PP, Associate Dean, School of Arts and Humanities, gave the vote of thanks.
