The annual feast of Infant Mary Church Bajjodi celebrated in a grand manner
Mangaluru: The annual feast of Infant Mary Church at Bajjodi was celebrated in a grand manner on Sunday, January 28th. In the morning. Infant Mary’s statue was taken in a grand procession from the OSS convent to the church; thereafter, a solemn Holy Eucharist was celebrated in the church.
Msgr. Maxim Noronha was the main celebrant, with 18 priests concelebrating with him. The theme of the feast was “Let us honour Infant Mary and build up the parish community.”
In his homily, Msgr. Maxim Noronha highlighted how all the parishioners can build up the parish community, with the parish pastoral council playing a pivotal role. Later, all the donors and sponsors for the feast were honoured by a blessed candle.
The solemn Eucharist was followed by a “fancy fete” with a lot of games, food stalls, and a variety of entertainment. In the evening, a cultural program was organised by various parish associations at 6 p.m. Sri J.R. Lobo, ex-MLA, was the chief guest, and Sri. Keshav, the local corporator, was the guest of honour for the program. A variety of dances, skits, and jokes were staged, concluding with Housie Housie. Mr. Victor Pinto, the gurkar of Lourdes ward, was honoured for his selfless services to the church for many years. Sri J.R. Lobo shared in his speech that Bajjodi, though a small parish, is rich in talents. He advised the parishioners to build up the parish community. The whole program was concluded with the distribution of prizes.
