Summer Sports Camp Kicks Off at Mount Carmel Central School

Mangaluru: The Summer Sports Camp 2025 was inaugurated with great enthusiasm and excitement at Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru, on April 1, 2025. The event was marked by the blessing and inauguration of the newly developed cricket ground, which is expected to serve as a training hub for aspiring young cricketers.

The inauguration ceremony commenced with a short prayer service, seeking blessings for the success of the camp and the well-being of all players and coaches. Led by Sr Therese Teena and the group, the prayer emphasized values of teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship, setting a positive tone for the event.

Following the prayer, Principal Sr Melissa warmly welcomed the chief guest, Rev. Fr Ravi Kumar, Superior General of MSIJ, along with the parents, staff, coaches, and players. The chief guest, Rev. Fr Ravi Kumar, and Joint Secretary Sr Josephine Pais AC then officially inaugurated the cricket ground by cutting the ribbon, followed by Rev. Fr Ravi Kumar blessing the cricket court and the playground. In his inspiring speech, he highlighted the value of sports in education and personal growth.

After the formal inauguration, attendees witnessed an impressive demonstration session by experienced coaches. Cricket by Mr Santhosh Misquith and team from Karavali Cricket Academy; football by Mr Mohammed Hasan and Mr Akshara from UR Academy of Soccer; Table Tennis by Mr Ashwin Padukone from Padukone Table Tennis Centre for Excellence; and Basketball by Mr Shashank Rai, an international basketball player.  These sessions included warm-up exercises and skill-based drills, providing insights into the rigorous coaching designed for cricket, football, table tennis, and basketball.

With the newly inaugurated cricket ground and well-structured training programs, the Summer Sports Camp 2025 is set to become a center of excellence for budding sports talents. Enthusiasm among students and coaches remains high, paving the way for a summer filled with learning, teamwork, and competitive spirit.
