St Philomena College Organises Faculty Induction Programme to Embrace Continuous Learning
Puttur, August 5, 2024: “Everyone who chooses teaching as a profession must continuously engage in learning,” said Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of St Philomena College. He emphasized that “the main enemy of learning is ego, and by setting aside our ego, we can learn new things every day. He urged educators to embrace new concepts and effectively use them in their teaching, fostering confidence and curiosity among students.” Dr Monteiro spoke during the inauguration of a four-day staff induction program organized by the Staff Development and Appraisal Cell of the College for newly joined lecturers.
The first day of the event, following the formal inauguration at the PG Seminar Hall, involved a discussion in four sessions on the activities of the college, vision, objectives, administration, and key administrative systems. Dr Malini K., Dean of the Science Department and Coordinator of the IQAC, shared insights into understanding the educational environment and the roles and expectations of lecturers. Dr Vijaya Kumar Moleyar, the vice principal, shared his experiences. Dr Radhakrishna Gowda, Dean of Business Administration, and Mrs Prathibha, Assistant Professor, P.G. Department of Social Work, discussed effective teaching strategies and classroom management.
Asst. Professor Suraksha S. rendered a prayer. Dr Edwin D’Souza, Coordinator of the Staff Development and Appraisal Cell, extended a warm welcome. Asst. Professor Spearl Fiona proposed a vote of thanks. Mr Vinaychandra, Dean of the Computer Science Department, was present at the event.
