St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur Hosts Workshop on Business Model Canvas
Puttur, April 28, 2025: The Department of Commerce, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at St Philomena College, Puttur, organized an insightful workshop on the Business Model Canvas on April 28, 2025. The event aimed to equip students with practical knowledge of entrepreneurial planning and strategic business structuring.
The session was inaugurated by the Principal, Rev. Dr. Antony Prakash Monteiro, who emphasized the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship in today’s dynamic business environment. In his address, he encouraged students to make the most of such platforms to bridge academic learning with real-world applications.




The resource person for the event, Mr. Prashanth Rai, Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Administration, elaborated on the nine building blocks of the Business Model Canvas, including key partners, value propositions, customer segments, and revenue streams. The interactive nature of the workshop enabled participants to apply these concepts to real-life business scenarios, sparking creativity and critical thinking.
The workshop was specifically designed to prepare students for an upcoming competition, where they are required to develop and present their own Business Model Canvas ideas.
Mrs. Premalatha K, Head of the Department of Commerce; Mr. Parveen D, Convenor of the Commerce Association; Mrs. Geetha Poornima K, President of IIC; faculty members; and enthusiastic commerce students actively participated in the session. The program concluded with an engaging interactive session, followed by a vote of thanks.
