St. Anthony’s feast at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Hiriyur, Chitradurga District, Diocese of Shimoga 

Chitradurga, Hiriyur, June 14, 2024: Our Lady of Assumption Church, Hiriyur, Chitradurga District, Diocese of Shimoga Celebrated St. Anthony’s feast on June 13th, 2024. At 6:30 p.m., Rev. Fr George K. A., Rector & Parish Priest of Our Lady of Health, Minor Basilica, Harihara, blessed St. Anthony’s ‘Chariot’. Then, together with the Rosary faithful, they took the procession around Mary Road. After the procession, people gathered in front of the church for the Novena. Fr Franklin D’Souza, Parish Priest of Our Lady of Assumption Church, Hiriyur, led the Novena.

The Festal Holy Eucharist began at 7:30 p.m. Parish Priest, Fr Franklin D’Souza, celebrated the Holy Eucharist together with Rev. Fr George K. A., Rev. Fr Alvin Stanislaus, Manager and Corresspondent of Lourdes Boys School, Davanagere, & Assistant Parish Priest, Fr Paul Crasta. 

Fr Franklin D’Souza, in his homily, spoke on the call of God to witness the love of Jesus. St. Anthony became a testimony of the love of Christ. He loved the Word of God, the Eucharist, and also had great devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. We are called not only to follow miracles but also to have faith like him in the Lord Jesus Christ. He specially prayed for the faithful gathered. 

After the Mass, outgoing Parish Priest Fr Franklin D’Souza, thanked sacristian Mr. Kanikya Raj for his valuable services during the last six years of his ministry at Hiriyur. 

Rector Fr George K. A. thanked Fr Franklin D’Souza for his valuable services to the faithful of Hiriyur. 

Then Fr Franklin D’Souza thanked all those who contributed to the success of the feast. 

Food was served for everyone.
