St Aloysius holds felicitation for MLC Sri Ivan DSouza

Mangaluru: St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) in association with St Aloysius College Alumni Association (SACAA), holds felicitation for Sri Ivan DSouza for being elected as Member of Legislative Council of Karnataka for the second time. The programme was held in L. F. Rasquinha Hall of the LCRI Block on August 12, 2024.

Rev. Dr Praveen Martis, SJ, Vice Chancellor of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Dr Alwyn D’Sa, Registrar of St Aloysius College (Autonomous) and Dr Ronald Nazareth, Registrar of the University, Rev. Fr Vishwas Joy Misquith, Finance Officer of the University, Sri Anil Kumar, Secretary of SACAA, and Ms Shilpa DSouza, Convenor of the programme, were on the dais.

Sri Ivan DSouza, in his address, expressed his nostalgic feelings at St Aloysius College as a student leader. He explained his journey into politics and how he overcame the hardships and obstacles to acquire several coveted positions in the field of politics. He explained the power of both Rajyasabha and Loksabha houses and suggested the students become good leaders in politics. He also said that those who want to step into politics must have a dream, without which it is not possible to enter it.

He further stated the role played by him in the well-being of the Beed Rollers by raising their issues and concerns in the sessions so that the community got the benefits of ESI and other facilities.

Rev. Dr Praveen Martis, in his presidential remarks, congratulated Sri Ivan D’Souza for occupying several higher positions in the field of politics and wished him well in his career ahead.

During the programme, the new website of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) was officially launched by the dignitaries.

Dr Mona J. Mendonca HOD of History, meticulously compered the programme. Dr Alwyn D’Sa welcomed the gathering. Sri Anil Kumar, Secretary of St Aloysius College Alumni Association, proposed the vote of thanks.

The programme was concluded with the National Anthem.
