St Aloysius College Students join hands in ‘Clean India Drive – 2021’

Mangaluru: On the occasion of National Integration Day, Students of St Aloysius College (Autonomous) Mangaluru joined in Clean India Drive- 2021 organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Mangaluru in association with St Aloysius College (Autonomous) Mangaluru and various other associations on 31st October, 2021. The programme was held at Bengre and Taneerbhavi beaches. 

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra, Mangaluru City Corporation Mayor Premanand Shetty, MCC Commissioner Akshy Sridhar, Dr Kumar IAS, Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Panchayath; Nithin Kumar, President, KFDC, Govt of Karnataka; S P Patnaik, Regional Director, NYKS-South; M N Nataraj, State Director, NYKS-Bengaluru; Hariram Shankar, DCP (Law & Order), Mangaluru; Smt Gayathri Nayak, Project Director, DUDC-DK; Chethan Bengre, MCC Corporator; Sathish Babu, JSW, Mangaluru; Fr Dr Praveen Martis SJ, Principal, St Aloysius College, Mangaluru; Dr Alwyn D’Sa, Registrar, St Aloysius College; Vivek Alva, Managing Trustee, Alva’s Education Institutions, Moodabidri were witness the programme.

DC of Dakshina Kannada Dr. Rajendra K.V expressed his gratitude to all the participant organisations on behalf of district administration.

Around 650 volunteers from various associations and 12 staff members of St Aloysius College joined hands in this noble cause.

Celebration of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav

Our Country is celebrating Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav as a part of its 75th year of Independence. During the inauguration of this celebration on 12th March 2021, the Prime Minister decided to celebrate under five sub heads such as Freedom struggle, Ideas at 75, Achievements at 75, Actions at 75, and Resolve at 75. The Clean India Programme has been planned in the background of the above context and with a view to mobilize public opinion and ensure involvement of citizens of the country to participate voluntarily in this nationwide drive of waste collection and its disposal.

In view of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is undertaking a programme on the theme “Clean India 2021”. The program is aimed at creating awareness, mobilization of people and ensuring their involvement in the Clean India initiative which is unique in terms of scale and participation.

To commemorate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Integration Day), which is celebrated on the occasion of Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary, the organisers, guest, staff, students and localities who  made this noble cause successful, took a pledge “to maintain the unity” during this programme.
