District Prison, Mangaluru celebrates National Ayurveda Day for the first time
Mangaluru: To commemorate the 9th National Ayurveda Day on 29 October 2024, the District Prison Mangaluru organised a full-day free Ayurvedic Medical camp for the 425 prison inmates and staff on 28 October 2024. The Medical Camp focused on bone density tests, dermatology, blood sugar tests, heart-related ailments, and cancer detection tests. The camp was organized at the initiative of the Prison Superintendent Sri BT Obaleshappa and jail officials and Prof. Edmund Frank, St Aloysius (Deemed To Be University) Mangaluru.
The Karnataka Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, Srivedamayu Ayurvedic Hospital, and Kanachur Medical College participated in the Medical Camp.
This medical camp is in accordance with the 5-month Diploma Programme organised by St Aloysius (Deemed To Be University) for a team of 45 prison inmates in “Ayurvedic Medicine and Disease Prevention” in order to bring in a transformation of their mind and lives and enable them to lead a dignified life.
