August 1, 2024

Mangaluru: The feast of St Ignatius of Loyola was celebrated with festivity and fervour in the Loyola Hall at St Aloysius PU Campus on July 31, 2024. Amid the red alert and heavy overnight pour, the enthusiasm never lacked among the crowd. Aloysians filled with a true spirit of spirituality and sanctimony thronged the venue in large numbers.

The main celebrant for the Eucharist was Fr Kenneth Crasta, Assistant Director of St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor. He was accompanied by Rev. Fr Melwyn Joseph Pinto, SJ Rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Rev. Dr Praveen Martis, SJ, Vice Chancellor, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) and other Jesuits from the main campus and Beeri campus, along with guest priests from the Mangalore Diocese.

The theme for the celebration was taken from the Ignatius Ideology, “Go Forth and Set the World on Fire.” Fr Kenneth, in his homily, beautifully summarized the prominence of the theme.

Fr Melwin Pinto SJ, post-the Eucharist, addressed the students, amalgamating the theme and the need of the day, stressing the role of youth to recollect and live with the Ignatius spirit.

The celebration was compered by Ms Faye Rodrigues, a student from Degree College. Dr Melwyn DCunha, Pro Vice Chancellor of St Aloysius (Deemed to be a university), proposed a vote of thanks. The Eucharist preparation and execution were monitored by the Campus Ministry team of St Aloysius Degree and students from the AICUF association.
