St Agnes PU College organizes ‘Agnathon 2k22’ an interschool and intercollegiate fest
Mangaluru: ‘Agnathon 2k22’ an interschool and intercollegiate fest was organized by St Agnes PU College on 7th September. The fest with the vibrant and colourful culture of Tulunadu as the theme was inaugurated by the chief guest Mr Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli, Yakshagana Artiste, Writer and Poet. He was escorted in a ceremonial procession to the traditional beat of the drums which reached a crescendo as the guests of honour reached the venue.
The occasion began with a prayer song and a welcome dance. In his address to the audience, Mr Bhaskar Rai appreciated the culture of Tulunadu and highlighted the syncretic nature of this land and commended the Christian missionaries for their role in imparting holistic education of both head and heart.
The accompanying dignitary Mr Walter Nadalike, Editor, Daijiworld extended warm greetings on the occasion of Onam and Nativity. He commended the management for encouraging Tulu language and culture for it fosters unity among the people of Dakshina Kannada. He exhorted the students to exude positivity and maintain a smile throughout life’s journey.
Mrs Shailaja, Department of Kannada welcomed the gathering during the inaugural session and introduced the chief guest. Riona DSouza compered the inaugural programme and Bhoomika Narayan proposed the vote of thanks.
Mr Patla Sathish Shetty, Playback Singer, Actor and Orator was the guest of honour at the Valedictory ceremony of ‘Agnathon 2k22. Mr Jeevan, Department of Hindi welcomed the audience and introduced the chief guest. Mr Sathish Shetty articulated his views and made the event come to life with his insights on how learning is endless and never-ending. He appreciated the programme and encouraged the students by reminding them that participation is more important than winning. He advised the youth to be dedicated to the task at hand and select the field which they can devote themselves to with passion. He opined that irrespective of caste and religion, we are all united as Indians and we follow Indian culture.
The fest comprised several competitions like Science Drama, Fashion Show, Variety entertainment, photography, Bhavageethe, Jewellery making, soap carving, quiz and Star of Agnathon and students from various schools and colleges participated wholeheartedly. Mount Carmel Central School garnered the Overall Championship in the High School category, and St Aloysius PU College won the Overall Championships in the PU College category. Lourdes Central School bagged Runners Up Trophy in both the High School and the Pre University category
Serena Saldanha hosted the valedictory of the event, while Vandan Rasquinha rendered the vote of thanks.
Dr Sr Lydia A.C, Joint Secretary, Agnes Group of Institutions, Principal Sr Norine Dsouza, Vice Principal Sr Janet Sequeira, Mrs Shailaja, Mr Jeevan, the convenors of the fest, the faculty, the PTA Vice President Mrs Asha Sanjivana, graced the occasion. Overall, it was an exciting and exuberant event that celebrated the power of the youth. Agnathon 2k22 witnessed a torrent of talent that lent the event a sparkling and festive hue.
