St Agnes PU College commemorates Girl Child Day
Mangaluru: “It is said that girls with dreams become women with vision. May we empower each other to carry out such a vision.”
Girls, when nurtured with love and opportunity, can grow into mighty trees that provide shade for all. Let us empower them to be the changemakers and leaders of the future.
St Agnes PU College commemorated Girl Child Day on October 30, 2024, to celebrate the resilience, strength, and spirit of the girl child. Mrs Amline Dsouza, Sub-Registrar, Dept. of Stamps & Registration, Govt. of Karnataka, was the guest of honor. Ms Poorvi Prakash welcomed the chief guest and gathering with meaningful words. The programme began with a prayer song followed by the awarding of scholarships to 25 deserving students under the aegis of the Abhaya Forum headed by Dr. Tressie Menezes. The chief guest spoke about being resilient and strong; withstand difficulties to be able to make a mark in this male-centric world. She concluded them by telling them to be prepared to go out into the world from a sheltered atmosphere and shatter the glass ceiling of expectations.

The students of II CSBA and II SEBA ‘B’ highlighted the significance of the day through their performances. A beautiful dance celebrating the joy of being a girl was followed by a medley where the singers crooned to popular numbers honouring the spirit of womanhood. The cultural programme concluded with a hard-hitting dance drama highlighting the atrocities suffered by women and the need of the hour to take decisive action.
Ms Velora Dsouza proposed the vote of thanks. Ms Viola and Ms Sadiya compered the programme. Mrs Lovina Aranha and Mr Matthew Antony were the coordinators of the programme.
