St Agnes College progresses to virtual classes, online counselling services

Mangaluru: The COVID-19 pandemic has made a global impact in the past weeks and continues to impact most of the sectors, with the education sector being one of the most affected. The demanding need of the situation leading to the sudden announcement of the lockdown has resulted in the abrupt closure of regular classes. However, most education institution across the country have risen to the occasion progressing to the virtual class mode.

The faculty members of St Agnes College have also smoothly transited to the virtual modes of teaching and teachers of various departments have been using different virtual modes to reach out to students. This step taken to complete the syllabus has been to the satisfaction of both staff and students. Besides these classes, the teachers have also encouraged students to take different online programmes for productive utilization of time and enhancement of skills. Undeterred by the pandemic, a good number of students have been taking various online training programmes and courses in their respective domains, showing their zeal for learning.

Faculty members of the Post Graduate department of Psychology were the resource persons for the following online programmes:

‘Away from Campus, Hope Matters’ – a sensitization programme for teachers to tackle the anxiety and uncertainty of COVID Pandemic and to connect emotionally with students, which is the dire need of the hour

‘Student Minds’ – a web seminar of four series for students on coping with anxiety and emotional stress during COVID-19 Pandemic organized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in association with St Agnes Centre for Post Graduate Studies and Research, Mangalore and Padmashree Institute of Medical Lab Technology, Bangalore.

The Department of Psychology is also pleased to announce the Online Counselling Platform and Informative Blog Service Open to the community to meet their mental health needs, during and post lockdown period. A team of experts in the field are offering this service to reach out to the community. The flyer below contains the details of the Online Counselling Platform and Counselling Services provided in English, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam and Tulu. The public are requested to avail of these facilities in times of need.
