Post Graduate Departments at St Philomena College Puttur Holds Fresher’s Day Program

Puttur 26 November: The Post Graduate Departments of Physics, Social Work, Mathematics, and Commerce at St Philomena College, Puttur, organized a Fresher’s Day Programme recently. The event was presided over by the Principal of the College, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro. He underscored the significance of celebrating occasions, noting that they serve as opportunities to foster human relations. Dr Monteiro emphasized the critical role of the study atmosphere and the importance of a mindful orientation when choosing one’s profession. He urged students to amalgamate their mind, soul, and heart to achieve success in life. The principal advocated living in an absolute frame of reference rather than a relative one and encouraged the pursuit of integration to become well-rounded human beings. Objectivity, he stressed, is the need of the hour, and he urged students to listen to their hearts’ voices and follow their passions. Dr Monteiro further remarked that the best outcomes in life are achieved by imbibing values while sitting in the classroom. He emphasized the need to train the body, soul, and brain to attain genuine values and become refined human beings.

The Vice Principal, Prof. Ganesh Bhat K, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest, spoke about the values that must be instilled among the youth to become successful human beings. The Freshmen’s Day Program at St Philomena College is not only a warm welcome for new students but also a platform for imparting valuable life lessons and inspirations for their academic journey ahead, he added.

The event was also graced by the presence of Mr Vipin Naik (Coordinator, PG Department of Physics), Mrs Srimani (Coordinator, PG Department of Social Work), Mr Harshith K R (Coordinator, PG Department of Commerce), Ms Jeevitha Rai (Coordinator, PG Department Mathematics), and Dr K Chandrashekhar (Head of Department, Physics, UG).
