Philo Ninada at St Philomena College (Autonomous) on International Music Day

Puttur, 4 October 2024: Under the auspices of the Yaksha Kala Kendra and Performing Arts Unit of the college, the ‘Philo Ninada’ program was organised at St Philomena College (Autonomous) on the occasion of International Music Day on Tuesday at the PG Seminar Hall of the college. The event featured a unique musical performance by student artists from Yaksha Kala Kendra, aimed at fostering an appreciation for music.

Senior students Suman Devadiga, a talented tabla player, and Krishna Gopal, a skilled flutist, were the special guests for the event. Suman Devadiga fondly reflected on the encouragement the college offers to students to develop their talents in music and literature, urging fellow students to participate in extracurricular activities.

Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the College, presided over the event. He emphasized the power of music to inspire and uplift the human mind, noting how it can evoke unique emotions and positive energy. Vice Principal Dr Vijayakumar Moleyar also graced the stage during the program.

After the formal inauguration, the audience was treated to a soulful performance of ‘Philo Ninada’ by the student artists, with music compositions crafted by Yaksha Kala Kendra Director, Prashantha Rai Mundalaguthu. The rendition was made all the more captivating by the rhythmic support of Suman Devadiga on tabla and the melodic notes of Krishna Gopal on flute.

The event commenced with a prayer led by Shraddha Bhat, a student from Yaksha Kala Kendra. Mr Prashantha Rai welcomed the audience and provided introductory remarks. Sridevi Bhat, a student of performing arts, compered the program.
