‘Philo Carnival – 2025’ PG Fest Inaugurated at St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur
Puttur, April 29, 2025: Philo Carnival 2025, the annual Postgraduate Fest of the Postgraduate Studies and Research Centre at St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, was inaugurated at the SGM Hall of the college on Monday.
Mr. Balarama Acharya, Managing Director of G.L Group Concerns, Puttur, inaugurated the event. In his address, he emphasized the importance of skill development in today’s world, stating, “Skills are very important in the present day, and the development of skills requires critical thinking.” He further elaborated that in an era driven by innovation and technological advancement, critical thinking is the foundation of both personal and professional growth. “Students must cultivate analytical minds that not only absorb knowledge but also question and innovate,” he added.
The Principal of the college, Rev. Dr. Antony Prakash Monteiro, presided over the programme. In his presidential address, he remarked, “Success in life is possible only when students are engaged in social, educational, and economic spheres—not just academically.” He urged students to involve themselves in holistic development activities, highlighting that education extends beyond textbooks into real-world application. Quoting a thought-provoking adage, he stated, “There is no knowledge greater than enthusiasm,” encouraging young minds to pursue their goals with passion and commitment.











Prof. Ganesh Bhat, Head of the Department of Postgraduate Mathematics; Mrs. Srimani, Head of the Department of Postgraduate Social Work; and Mr. Vipin Naik, Head of the Department of Postgraduate Physics, graced the dais.
Mrs. Bharathi S Rai, Public Relations Officer of the College, Assistant Professors from various postgraduate departments, and enthusiastic students from multiple colleges participated in the programme.
The formal event began with a prayer led by Tanvi Rai and her team. Mr. Harshith, Head of the Department of Postgraduate Commerce, delivered the welcome address. Ms. Sanchana proposed the vote of thanks, and Ms. Keerthi efficiently compered the event.
