Permannur Parishioners Bid Farewell to Fr J. B. Saldanha

Mangaluru: Going back to the year 2013 June 1 when Rev. Fr J. B. Saldanha took charge as the new Parish Priest of Permannur Parish after serving ten fruitful years in the St Josephs Seminary, Mangalore. And yet again the time has come to say thank you for the wonderful service he rendered in the Permannur Church. Rev. Fr J. B. Saldanha now will be taking up his new assignment as the new Parish Priest of St Francis Xavier Church Bejai.

Having vast experience in his priestly life Rev. Fr J. B. Saldanha has conquered the hearts of every parishioner, specially the Poor and needy.
He has been a role model, molded every person and had them bloomed under his guidance. He had special relationship with all the religious people.

On 25 July 2020, Thanksgiving Mass was celebrated at 5.00pm by Rev. Fr J. B. Saldanha, Asst PP Rev. Fr Santhosh Dsouza, Rev. Fr Edwin Mascanehas, Rev. Fr Valerian Pinto, Rev. Fr Rohan Lobo, Rev. Fr Stany Pinto, Rev. Fr Nilesh Crasta, Rev. Fr Steevan Cutinha, Rev. Fr Stany Fernandes, were the CO-Celebrants.

Wonderful speech was rendered by Rev. Fr Valerian Pinto Chaplin of Nirmal Convent, He described the wonderful ministry of Parish Priest last seven years, some of the great programmes under took last seven years were Medical Fund, Education fund, Housing Project, St Sebastian hall construction, presbytery renovation, land purchase and many other works were mentioned by him.

As a token of love, Rev Fr Valerian Pinto honoured him with a shawl and garland, PPC President Mr Maurice Monteiro gave away the gift, Citation was presented by Mrs Philomena Dsouza.

Asst PP Rev. Fr Santhosh Dsouza compelled the programme; in his speech he thanked Rev. Fr J. B. Saldanha for the service rendered in Permannur parish. He described his valuable works in the last seven years, he compared him to St Paul, he has same zeal and interests in the parish mission, who is really loves, his folk, always ready for the service of the people throughout the day, and he dreams a lot to develop the parish, during his tenure there lot of developments has taken place.

People who were anxiously waiting to hear Rev. Fr J. B. Saldanha also spoke during the occasion. He remembered important events that had taken place during his tenure and thanked all of them who helped him in various ways for the successful of various projects. He thanked all all the assistants’ parish priests who were there under him Rev. Fr Santhosh Dsouza, Rev. Praveen Joy Saldanha, Rev. Fr Lizel joy Dsouza, Rev. Fr Rohan Lobo, Rev. Fr Stany Pinto, Rev. Fr Nilesh Crasta, Rev. Fr Stany Fernandes. He was grateful to the entire ward Gurkar’s, President and members of pious associations, Convent sisters, children, youth, families and the elders of the church.
