NSS Annual Special Camp of St Philomena College Kicked off at Kuriya

Puttur: The inaugural programme of NSS Annual Special Camp of St Philomena College Puttur was held on December 26, 2019 at DKZP Higher Primary School Kuriya of Puttur Taluk.

The Progressive Farmer of Kuriya, Mr Budiyaru Radhakrishna Rai inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp and delivered the inaugural address. He said, ‘NSS camp can help the students to acquire discipline which is inevitable in one’s life. The campers can also mingle with the villagers and thereby understand the village life.’

The President of Social Justice Committee of Puttur Taluk Panchayath Mr Saja Radhakrishna Alva participated as the chief guest. He said, ‘NSS helps the students to acquire life skills. It also teaches the students to become good human beings.’

The Principal Prof. Leo Noronha delivered his introductory speech. He said, ‘National Service Scheme is based on two important principles, namely, Leadership and social service. It also makes the students to become great achievers in the society.’

The Correspondent of the College Rev. Fr Alfred J Pinto delivered the presidential address. He said, ‘The students must make use of their talents in an optimum manner and achieve great success.’

The President of School Betterment Committee Mr Abdul Jabbar M S, Head Mistress Mrs Leelavathi K, Vice President of Aryapu Grama Panchayath Mr Vasantha Sri Durga, Members Mr Ramesh Rai Dimbri and Mrs Sudhamani Rai expressed their best wishes.

Honorary Advisor of Annual Day Celebrations Committee Mr Venkatramana Nakshatrittaya, Grama Panchayath Members Mrs Jayanthi and Mrs Kusuma Sundara Mapala graced the occasion.

Ms Akhila and team presented the prayer song. NSS Programme Officer Ms Shashiprabha B welcomed the gathering. NSS Programme Officer Mr Dinakar Anchan proposed the vote of thanks. Ms Pooja M K compered the programme.

With the motto of ‘Science and Scientific Temper for the Youth’, this week long camp consists of shramadana, educational and various cultural programmes.
