Mount Carmel’s NCC Cadets Mark Environment Day with Tree-Planting Drive

June 6, 2025

Mangaluru: In observance of World Environment Day, the NCC cadets of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru, carried out a meaningful tree-planting drive on June 5. A total of 25 JD (Junior Division) and 12 JW (Junior Wing) cadets actively participated in the initiative, which began at 3:15 p.m.

Armed with basic farming tools such as hoes and ploughs, the cadets prepared the soil with dedication and care. Each cadet planted a sapling—Papaya, Mango, Cashew, Jackfruit, or Jamun—and ensured it was properly watered. The saplings were thoughtfully planted across the school campus and in nearby areas where suitable soil was available.

The spirit of teamwork and enthusiasm was evident throughout the activity. The cadets took pride in knowing that their green efforts would contribute to a healthier planet for future generations. This eco-friendly initiative served not only as a hands-on contribution to environmental sustainability, but also as an awareness campaign against deforestation and its harmful consequences.

With a powerful message—“For every tree cut down, ten more should be planted”—the cadets reaffirmed their role as responsible citizens and environmental stewards.

The event concluded at 4:15 p.m., leaving the cadets with a deep sense of pride and fulfillment for having taken a small yet impactful step towards a greener tomorrow.
