Mount Carmel Central School hosts AICS Basketball Tournament ‘Bouncing Stars 2k23′
Mangaluru: Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru, hosted the AICS Basketball Tournament, ‘Bouncing Stars 2k23 for CBSE & ICSE Schools of D.K., with great pomp and enthusiasm on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome by the host, setting a joyful tone for the event. The presence of the chief guest, Mr. Shashank J. Rai, Joint Secretary, Sr. Asha Prima, Principal, Sr. Melissa, Vice Principal, Sr Teena, and PTA Vice President, Mrs Carol Pais, were acknowledged with a traditional welcome accompanied by the school band’s vibrant tunes.
A soul-stirring prayer song offered a solemn start to the event, followed by a mesmerizing classical dance performance by the school’s talented dancers, providing a visual treat to the audience. Principal Sr. Melissa extended a cordial welcome to the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest Mr. Shashank J. Rai. He then, along with the other dignitaries, creatively inaugurated the tournament ‘Bouncing Stars 2k23’ and delivered the inaugural address, motivating the young basketball players with his encouraging words.
Tr Ilona proposed the vote of thanks, acknowledging the support and presence of everyone. Physical education, Sir Richard, the convener of the tournament, provided valuable insights into the tournament’s rules and emphasized the importance of respecting referees’ decisions.
To add an exciting touch to the ceremony, the Chief Guest and other dignitaries proceeded to the basketball court for the formal inauguration and interacted with the players, wishing them success in the upcoming matches. The inaugural program was compered by Tr Purnima.
The U-14 boys and girls matches were held on the school grounds, and the U-17 boys and girls matches were held at the U.S. Mallya basketball stadium. The tournament came to an end with the valedictory ceremony held at U.S. Mallya Indoor Stadium. It commenced with a feeling of gratitude as the school choir sang the invocation.
Vice Principal Sr Teena welcomed the Chief Guest, Sr Maria Sudeepa A.C., Secretary, The Apostolic Carmel Educational Society, Karnataka, and the audience. In her address, she congratulated the winners of the tournament and motivated them to excel in every field. Her valuable words were truly inspiring and motivational. As Tr. Dhanyashree announced the winning teams, the chief guest felicitated them with trophies, medals, and certificates. Tr Aparna Phadte was the host for the valedictory ceremony, and Tr Nishain Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks.
The ceremony ended with a note that ‘victory comes with endurance and discipline.’
