Mount Carmel Central School celebrates Konkani Manyata Divas with vibrant Cultural Fervour
Mangalur: The Konkani Maanyata Divas was celebrated on August 20, 2024, at Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru, with great enthusiasm, honouring the rich heritage of Konkani language and culture. The Chief guest Mr Praveen Tauro, Marketing Manager, Daijiworld, Mangaluru, along with the Principal Sr Melissa, and Administrator Sr Carissima, were given the traditional beetle leaf welcome.
The programme commenced with a soulful invocation, which set a reverent tone for the day, followed by a heartfelt welcome in words and an enchanting dance performance. As a tribute to the Konkani language and its culture, a captivating skit was presented, showcasing a blend of traditional dances, songs, gumta, and a roce ceremony accompanied by vovio and vojen portraying the legacy and rich heritage of the Konkani culture of Goa, Karwar, and Mangaluru. It was heartwarming to see the little ones speaking Konkani fluently and performing with love and dedication.
The chief guest, Mr Praveen Tauro, lauded the students for their fitting tribute to Konkani. He fondly remembered the contributions of artists who have brought the language to prominence and encouraged every Konkani-speaking student and staff member to cherish and promote it at all times.
Principal Sr Melissa expressed her joy in the spirit and performance of the students and urged them to continue loving and promoting the Konkani language and culture.
